Current prices for Exploring GIS

The textbook Exploring Geographic Information Systems, second edition is the required text for this class. You might as well get it at the best price. Here are some alternatives that I can find.

• UW Book Store $? (you pay Seattle sales tax and do receive a patronage refund if you save up your receipts; does give you the book-in-hand with least waiting). The order was delayed the the UW book store; availability during first week?
• Amazon.com seems to have $80.95 (ouch), shipping cost about $5; 22 used copies for $15.50.
• Half.com lists four sources from $45.95 to $57.00;
• ESRI's GIS Bookstore lists the book for zero dollars, but I suspect this is an error (plus shipping?)
• Wiley direct charges $73.95, up from $66.95 last year.

Try some other sources, you may find it cheaper...

Ethics of this situation

Yes, this is a textbook I wrote, I get a (small) royalty on each new book sold. To avoid conflicts, I have committed to donate the royalties from this class to the Geography Department to be used for student support. I calculate this amount on the basis that all students buy the book.

A fairly complete GIS bookstore, still stocking the first edition...
